• With the introduction of the 24-hour automated telephone system, we are taking this opportunity to change the way you book ROUTINE GP appointments.

   

  You no longer have to call at 8am or 1pm to make a GP appointment.

   

  When you ring to make an appointment there will be considerably more flexibility in the appointments that are made available to you - if you wish to pre-book an appointment to see a GP later that week it will be much easier under the new system.

   

  You do not have to use the automated booking service - if you prefer to speak to a receptionist you can still call to book your GP appointment anytime during normal opening hours – 8am and 1pm open booking times no longer exist.

   

  There will be a duty doctor each day who will manage the flow of patients who feel they need to see a doctor the same day as an emergency. The duty doctor may call you back in the first instance to give telephone advice or you may be asked to come to either the Roebuck or Bedwell surgery.

• You can choose an to be seen at either surgery, according to appointment availability. You can also choose to see any doctor, not just the one you are registered with.
   
• Telephone consultations are available at request if you think you just want some advice and that it can be dealt with over the phone.
   
• Please arrive on time for your appointment.
   
• Please don't "squeeze in" other people to your slot.
   
• Please don't save up problems for one appointment. Appointments are for 10 minutes only.
   
• Non attendance for appointments is a constant problem and increases the wait for other patients to see the doctor. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please inform reception in plenty of time so that it may be given to another patient.
   
• We always try to see patients at their appointed time but sometimes need to spend longer with patients than the allocated time; we appreciate your patience if there is some delay.
   

urgent appointments

If you have a sudden need to see the doctor and cannot possibly wait for a normal appointment, please tell the receptionist and she will arrange this for you. However, we may not be able to offer you the time or doctor of your choice. Please inform the surgery as early as possible.
